• 1982-1993 6.2 l diesel

*Not Recommended*  Although many fun and cool old diesels have this engine in it, such as the old military blazers, we do not recommend using cooking oil in this engine.  We have found that the Stanadyne fuel injection pump on this specific engine is unreliable when using alternative fuels.  Others have had better experience than us, but we do not recommend this engine to any of our customers.

• 1994-2001 6.5 l diesel

The 6.5 liter Chevrolet diesel engine is a strong and reliable engine.  The Stanadyne rotary fuel injection pump has shown to be reliable on vegetable oil, especially in the later models.  Make sure to dewater and filter the vegetable oil very well for this engine in order to get maximum life out of the injection pump.  If choosing between Chevy and Ford in these years, it is important to note that it is much more expensive to replace the injection pump on the Chevy than the Ford because the air intake must be removed on the Chevy and parts on front of engine removed.  Also, the Chevy’s have an issue with randomly blowing head gaskets that Fords do not tend to have.  Both at good engines though.

• 2001-2004 6.6 l Duramax diesel LB7

*Recommended*  These trucks are powerful and fun to drive.  They use a common rail fuel injection system that works well with vegetable oil conversion technology.  This model of engine uses a fuel cooled computer that requires extra pumps and valves to properly convert to run on used cooking oil.  

• 2004-2007 6.6 l Duramax diesel LLY/LBZ

*Recommended*  These trucks are powerful and fun to drive.  They use a common rail fuel injection system that works well with vegetable oil conversion technology.
